This is kind of weird.

I mean, the resemblance is pretty uncanny as a caricature. Looks as if a political cartoonist drew it.

And yes, I realize that I just opened myself up to a torrent of “messiah” comments, but I’m ready for it.

I voted for Obama, but he is no messiah ! Hopefully he will be a good President, but that remains to be seen. There are people in our country who are already trying to portray him as a Messiah or a Lincoln or a John F. Kennedy. He is none of the men. He is Barack Hossein Obama and the jury is still out.!!

I agree completely with your first two sentences, Paul… but as to these reports of anecdotes from anonymous sources who know of someone whose friend/coworker/brother/sister/cousin thinks that Obama is a/the “M/messiah”… well, I think the vast majority of that is political Dream Whip, fomented by the dizzying, non-stop beaters of the right-wing propogandists.

Once upon a time, some poor soul happened to blurt out, in front of a camera or open mic, “The mortgage situation is really bad. I hope President Obama can help me keep my house.”

That quote, in the hands of El Rushbo, SlAnnder, Savage, Beck, Hammity, Bill-O, etc. quickly morphed into “SEE?!?!? OBAMA SUPPORTERS ARE FANATICS!! THEY THINK THAT NATIONALIST SOCIALIST COMMUNIST DEMOCRATiC PRESIDENT-DICTATOR BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA IS GOING TO GIVE EVERYONE A FREE HOUSE!! OUR NATION IS GOING DOWN THE TOILET!! PEOPLE ARE STOCKING UP ON GUNS AND AMMO, BECAUSE THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS GOING TO TAKE ‘EM ALL AWAY!! THE REVOLUTION IS AT HAND!!! ICED TEA FOR EVERYONE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON!!”

Yeah, the extremist crackpots are going to have a field day with this one.

Hey, it’s not like this kinda thing hasn’t happened before…

Paul (and everyone else that does this) – why do you (mis)spell out Obama’s middle name? Is it done intentionally to try and draw some imaginary parallel with Saddam Hussein? If so, what exactly is the parallel that you’re trying to prove?

If not, did you always refer to our past president as George Walker Bush? Seems that most people just called him George W. Bush. Can you please enlighten me why this is such a popular practice?

President Obama offers the best hope we have had in calming down the mideast since President Jimmy Carter. The Bush administration inflamed the region with its arrogant, agressive, jingoistic and dictatorial approach, and its refusal to hold Israel accountable for any of the problems to whcih it contributed. There can never be a peace agreement if the United States simply backs unconditionally anything Isael wants to do. How can there be a settlement as long as Israel continues to build illegal settlements in Palentinian areas? Obama supports Israel’s right to exist, but he also requires Israel to become a part of the solution not just unaccountable for its aggressive actions. He has the right idea.

What is so satisfying about the right-wing talkers raving away is that they are not being supported by the majority of Americans. Obama won big time in spite of their oitlandish statements. He is the real patriot, not them.

I’m certain there were political cartoonists back in the day. Perhaps there was King Tutobaman ;P

Yeah, but it also looks like many caricatures of alien space men from Mars. Hmmmmm….
